UPDATE: December 22, 2009 Effective December 2009, all persons who currently own a monitored alarm system or wanting to install a monitored alarm system at their location within the city of Manvel must apply for a permit. This has become necessary due to large number of FALSE alarms our public safety personnel answer. Approved applicants will receive a receipt in the mail indicating they have been approved. False alarm violations will be fined as follows:

On behalf of the City of Manvel, Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. This notice is to inform you that the City of Manvel, like many other Cities, has adopted ordinances and codes for the purpose of promoting the health, safety and general welfare of the City and its inhabitants. Such ordinances and codes have been designed to eliminate conditions that tend to reduce the value of private property, that constitute a public nuisance, and that create fire hazards. There are visible conditions within the City that need to be improved or eliminated in order to comply with the City’s ordinances and codes. If your property is in non-compliance, this notice is to inform you in hopes that you will strive in 2008 to eliminate conditions that are detrimental to the health, safety and welfare of the general public. Continued non-compliance will result with the issuance of citations and possible fines for every day of non-compliance.The following is a summary of just a few of the adopted ordinances or codes relevant to property. Compliance with these and other adopted ordinances and codes will eliminate conditions that produce urban blight and should make all Manvel citizens proud to live and be a part of this growing community. The City of Manvel Code Enforcement division of the Police Department is dedicated to creating a cleaner, safer and more attractive city through the prevention, enforcement and abatement of code violations.

REMOVAL OF COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS AND EXCESSIVE VEGETATION
Grass and weeds must be kept below the 12" maximum. Paint over or remove graffiti. Dispose of trash, litter and debris properly. Correct existing nuisances:
Any harboring of rats, mice and snakes
Removal of doors from refrigerators and freezers before setting outside.
Properly dispose of hazardous chemicals: oils, anti freeze, paints, paint thinner, etc.
Dumping anywhere except an approved dump site (severe State fines imposed for this offense)
Promptly repair any sewage line breaks.
