Burn Ban
The burn ban for the City of Manvel has been lifted effective December 29. In order to burn within the city limits you must have a valid burn permit issued by the City of Manvel and comply with the following rules. Before burning contact the City of Manvel Police Department at 281-489-1212 to inform them you will be burning.

Only natural products grown on the property stated on permit and non-treated wood can legally be burned. Such items like household garbage, treated wood, tires, furniture, carpet electrical wiring, rubber, plastic, clothing, appliances, asphalt materials, heavy oils, chemical waste, and other substances not considered a natural product by the Fire Marshal shall not be burned.

Exception: Recreational fires that are contained in a barbecue pit, grill, outdoor fireplace, or camp fire with a fuel area of 3 feet or less in diameter and 2 feel or less in height when used only for pleasure, ceremonial cooking, warmth, religious, or similar purposes.

Nothing shall be brought onto any property to be burned except for recreational fire purposes.

Natural product burning fires shall be constantly attended by the responsible person stated on the license until the fire is out of extinguished. Recreational fires shall be constantly attended by a competent person until the fire is out or extinguished.

The responsible person and the competent person shall prevent the fire from spreading beyond the intended area, cooking deice, or campfire and shall have a water hose connected to a water supply or some adequate extinguishing equipment or source that is readily available for use.

Keep fires downwind of or at least 300 feet from any neighboring property that contains sensitive receptors (residence, business, barn, greenhouse, etc.). Waiver exception: recreational fires shall not be conducted within 25 feet of any structure unless they are contained in a barbecue pit, grill, or an outdoor fireplace.

There shall be no burning of any natural product when the NWS has issued a Red Flag Warning for Brazoria County or atmospheric circumstances are present that could spread the fire beyond the intended area such as windy or dry conditions.

There shall be no burning of any kind (natural products of recreational fires) during a burn ban.

Except for fires that are used only for recreational purposes, the initiation of burning shall commence no earlier than 1 hour after sunrise. Burning shall be completed on the same day not later than 1 hour before sunset local time, and at no time can a burn pile be set on fire or continue to burn after dark.

When a burn pile is too large to be totally consumed within the same day, the pile shall be separated into smaller piles which can be consumed within the set time frame. A suggested burn pile size of not much more than 10 feet wide and 5 feet tall is a recommended size that can be controlled just in case atmospheric conditions change during a burn.

It is unlawful for an business to burn anything at all.
ALL burn permits will expire on December 31. If you are found burning after 12:01am on January 1, a citation may be issued.
